YK Law LLP Welcomes Three New Counsels to the Firm

YK Law LLP is pleased to announce new members of the firm: Qi Men as Senior Counsel, and Marc Paley as Of Counsel and Co-Head of YK Law’s Real Estate Practice.

Mr. Funk practices principally in the area of taxation, with emphasis on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint venture transactions, private and public investment vehicles, transfers of intellectual property, equity compensation, post-Wayfair sales tax planning, disclosure programs, and tax controversies. Mr. Funk has extensive experience in transactions between China and the U.S. In addition to China and the U.S., Mr. Funk has also structured transactions in the following jurisdictions by collaborating with local counsel and local accounting firms: Belgium, Canada, Colombia, France, India, Israel, Italy, Poland, Spain, Uruguay, the UK, and other countries. Mr. Funk is also very familiar with offshore corporate structures.

Ms. Men possesses expertise in a broad range of practice areas, including litigation, securities regulation, M&A, IPO and privatization, non-profit law, corporate law and intellectual property. She’s advised clients in findustry sectors, such as financial services and investment, education, CBD, e-commerce and environmental protection. Prior to joining YK, she has worked at White & Wolnerman PLLC; led litigation, M&A and loaning transaction for publicly-traded Puxin Ltd. (NYSE: NEW), one of China’s most successful and profitable after-school education entities; and online real estate rental platform Uhomes. She also provided valuable consultation to BZRTH, North America’s largest E-commerce platform for gardening facilities concerning their financing and IPO needs. Qi has also worked at Brooklyn Law School for international students’ recruitment, assisting the law school in acquiring certification from the China Department of Education and establishing a cooperation with over one hundred Chinese law schools. She graduated from J.D. program of Brooklyn Law School and is admitted to practice law in the State of New York. Qi will also play an important role in the recently-founded Yingke International Lawyer College – the first legal professional training organization in China focusing on international legal education, co-founded by Yingke Law Firm and YK Law LLP.

Mr. Paley practices principally in the areas of real estate finance, development, leasing and real management and operations. Marc has represented developers and other clients in a multitude of acquisitions and financings of commercial and residential real estate. He has represented lenders in commercial and residential loans. He has also prepared and filed offering plans and amendments for submission to the New York State Attorney General. Marc has drafted and negotiated office and retail leases for both landlords and tenants. He has also represented cooperatives and condominiums in connection with their corporate matters including those related to shareholders, unit owners, managing agents and contractors. He has presided over annual cooperative and condominium annual meetings.
